We are a lively and welcoming Church, with an amazing past, looking forward to what God will do in the future.

St Mary’s celebrates the riches of the church’s tradition and worship whilst seeking to make new generations aware of Christ’s relevance through contemporary worship and we seek to grow as disciples of Jesus through small groups and learning together.

We welcome people of all ages and provide special opportunities for children and young people to meet, have fun and grow in faith.

Come Explore and Discover

Founded 900 years ago, St Mary’s possesses some of the finest architecture and artwork of any parish church in England. We love to welcome visitors and worshippers to enjoy the glory of this exceptional place of worship, to be inspired, develop friendships, find joy and peace.

Come and see the remarkable ceiling of Kings, constellations of stars which adorn the Holy Trinity Chapel, the 700 brightly coloured and intriguing roof bosses depicting fables and stories, you can explore the carvings on the misericords and even meet the white rabbit, said to have inspired Alice in Wonderland.  In addition, you can explore the recent stone carvings of Narnia characters and the women of influence.

Church is staffed by volunteer welcomers and is open Monday -Saturday 11am-3pm and Sunday for services.
